Jammu December 29: After 15 hour long rescue operation, a team of Kishtwar police, locals and officials of administration have recovered all the seven dead bodies from the ill fated Scorpio that fall into 800 meter deep gorge near Thamb village some 150 KM from Kishtwar.

As per the details available with “JK News Today”, after hearing about the news of the accident, team of Police from Padder, Kishtwar along with team of SDRF rush towards the accident site and started rescue operation, but due to darkness, the rescue operation was halted mid night and was rescumed early in the morning.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar who along with Additional SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom also visited the area confirmed to “JK News Today” that all the seven dead bodies were recovered from the debris of the ill fated vehicles added that all the deceased were locals and died on spot. He said that the exert reason for the accident could not be ascertained, but said that police is investigating the matter. He said that administration has provided cash assistance of Rs. 10000 each to the next of the kith and kins of the deceased out of Red Cross funds for the last riots. He said that the concern SDM and Tehsildar has been directed to prepare the relief cases of the deceased so that the compensation could be given to the families of the deceased. He also expressed grief and shock over the death of seven innocent lives in this tragic accident and offered his sympathies with the braved families. Minister of State for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma who is also MLA from Kishtwar is expected to visit the Padder in the evening.

Meanwhile several political and social activist express grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of life in Padder accident and prays for the peace of the departed souls, beside place for them in heaven. They also prayed to God to give strength to the family members to bear this irreparable loss and also demanded an exgratia relief of Rs. 5 lakhs for each deceased. Some people even demanded registration of an FIR against the contractors as well as against the executing agency for poor maintenance of the road at the accident spot. Those who express grief and shock include MLA Inderwal G M Saroori, MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MLC Firdous Ahmed Tak, Ex MLC Syed Asgar Ali, Social Activist Shakir Siddiqui, Chairmen SRCO Sanjeev Parihar, Anil Parihar, Imtiyaz Zarger, D D Farooq, Rocky Goswami, Kishori Shan, Bushan Parihar, Syed Ahmed Shah, Social activist Abdul Majeed Bichoo, Social Activist Raiz Ahmed Zarger and others.

It is pertinent to mention that a Scorpio vehicle bearing No. JK02BL-2914 meet with an accident near Thumb village some 150 KM from Kishtwar last evening in which seven persons identified as Manoj Kumar Son of Mohan Lal resident of Ongaie (driver), Narinder Kumar son of Gyan Chand resident of Tham, Sunil Kumar Son of Sahab Singh resident of Tham, Aman Singh Son of Devan Chand resident of Swash Chand, Dharminder Singh Son of Kartar Singh resident of Bastaun, Rohit Singh Son of Roop Singh resident of Swash and Rangail Singh  Son of Bodh Raj Resident of Swash lost their lives.
