What has been seen in the past few weeks in Jammu and Kashmir makes it clear that the pandemic of Coronavirus, has, in no way, lessened threat to the national security. Pakistan has assumed, as always, its frontline position threatening peace and national security in Kashmir.

It is evident, what it could not do itself directly; it has used the extremist religious ideology to create trouble in the Valley.

When the pandemic, born in China , and conveniently hidden by Beijing, struck the world, it was expected the whole attention would be devoted by one and all, including Pakistan, in fighting the virus and it would halt its terrorist operations in Kashmir. It was also expected, though it was highly optimistic, that it would deactivate all its men and machine of terrorism, to let the nations find a united response to defeat the virus.

All these hopes have come to a naught as the violent campaign in Kashmir has shown in the recent days. Nothing has changed in Pakistan’s attitude that seeks to bleed Kashmir. It has executed the terror attacks in which its prime targets, security personnel, policemen and civilians, who want to live a peaceful life, have been killed.

An analysis shows that Pakistan operates on multiple scales in Kashmir but with a sole objective to engineer violence, and more violence.

Normally, it is understood that Pakistan trains and arms Kashmiri youth who are jobless and vulnerable to the extremist version of Islam. This is just one of many parts of the terror infrastructure that Pakistan has built over the years. It has moved beyond and has experimented with various other means to encourage and trigger violence in Kashmir.

Second part of this multi- episode of fanning terrorism is more heinous. Islamabad has created a vast network of terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e- Toiba . It would be more appropriate to say that the groups are multiplying and new names are being given to the terrorists who have infiltrated into J&K or those who have joined the militancy within the Valley.

In Pakistan , they have their training centres in the middle of Punjab, Murdike, Bhawalpur . One such terror camp in Balakot was destroyed during surgical strikes following February 14, 2019 terror attack in which 40 CRPF men were killed. The camp was destroyed and many terrorists were killed.

But Pakistan has reconstructed the terror camps. It also has reactivated terror camps in Taliban controlled areas of Afghanistan.

Third, it has created an army of keyboard warriors. These keyboard terrorists strike hard. They are engaged in faking the news and uploading the inciting material that creates disaffection among the youth 24×7. Then, the highly provocative messages with religious colouring are used to pollute the young minds, encouraging them to throw stones, disrupt education and extreme cases to snatch weapons of the policemen.

Fourth is a very well known fact to the world: Pakistan has accumulated a lot of drug money that it uses to create pockets of rabble rousers in the countries across the world to plant anti-India stories in the global media.

Fifth, it is using the fire and shelling from across the Line of Control and international border in J&K to target innocent civilians. Pak uses firing on the border to push in armed infiltrators

The pandemic has made no difference in its designs in Kashmir, and if analysed it dispassionately, it becomes clear that the threat to national security has increased manifold than ever before. Coronavirus is being used by Pakistan to enhance its terrorist activities all across the region, for it lives in a self-belief that it can pose a serious challenge to India. India is engaged in fighting the virus, but it will not allow any of the designs of Pakistan to succeed.
