A Major rank officer of Indian Army injured today when Pakistan violated ceasefire and opened heavy firing on Indian forward posts at Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu on Friday.

Defence sources said the injured officer was deployed on forward area near LoC in Nowshera sector where an incident of cross border firing took place.

“The officer received injury of splinter in his feet and was removed to a hospital where he is under treatment and out of danger,”sources added.

Meanwhile, PRO Northern Command, Col NN Joshi informed that Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of Small arms, automatics and mortars from 5 pm in Nowshera sector along the Line of Control (LC). Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively.
