Pakistan’s real face as a supporter and promoter of terrorism has been exposed . It has allowed a Presidential Ordinance proscribing Jamaat-ud-Dawa ( JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation ( FIF) headed by the founder of the dreaded Laskhakr-e-Toiba group Hafiz Saeed to lapse . The Ordinance has not been renewed under the Imran Khan led government in Pakistan .
This is how Pakistan throws dust into the eyes of the world . The JuD chief is known across the world as the mastermind of 26/11 that rocked Mumbai for three days and left more than 180 persons, including Americans and visiting nationals of other countries in November 2008 . How could that kind of person be removed from the list of the proscribed men and groups .
It makes the whole claim of Pakistan fighting terrorism and sacrificing several hundreds of lives sound hollow . The fight against terrorism is determined by the action that is taken against the perpetrators of the terror atrocities on the people . Terrorism has never served any cause , nor it will .
Pakistan’s patronization and protection of these terror-spreading and terrorist recruiting elements are at the roots of the whole problem in south Asia. Had Pakistan sincerely taken action against these elements in time, immediately after their role was established in the 26/11 atrocities, it would have established its own credibility as the real face of fight against terrorism . But , given the flip-flop in its attitude in dealing with the culprits of terrorism and blocking the judicial process by different manipulations has exposed it in the eyes of the world as a nation that nourishes and spreads terror .
What it did by allowing the Presidential Ordinance to lapse proved that it has different yardsticks in dealing with the problem of terrorism that is creating problems for its neighbours, particularly India and Afghanistan . Besides, the terror groups that it nourished have come to haunt the public in Pakistan as well.
Time has come for the world to name and shame Pakistan . Imran Khan has begun his innings on a bad note.
