Naeem Akhtar mocks at BJP ministers for their “double-standards’

Jammu, March 3:

The ruling  People’s Democratic Party today lashed out its ally  BJP in the coalition government  and charged it with  politicizing  an  inhuman criminal act of a rape and murder of a girl in Kathua   last month.

Public Works Minister  Naeem Akhtar  who also is government spokesperson  issued a statement on  behalf  of his party on Saturday taking to task BJP ministers who had  participated in a rally  demanding CBI probe into the crime .

The PDP leader  issued the statement authorized by party president and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti  to condemn the “ politicization  of rape and murder” of the girl and holding  BJP, without naming the  alliance partner and  ministers in question- Ch. Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga , to distance the government as a whole and the PDP from the utterances of the two BJP ministers.

Lal Singh and Ganga had raised serious questions about the nature of investigations and the random arrests made in connection with the crime. They had charged the police with acting in a partisan manner against the Hindu community. They had said that the police were  not doing their job professionally  and had suggested that the criminals behind the heinous crime should be hanged but  not without  evidence.

Naeem Akhtar mocked at these politicians  saying , “Ironically, the same politicians who are today questioning the professional capabilities of the police force and want it to be kept out of investigations into Kathua incident, make a beeline to offer tributes when any personnel of the same force sacrifices his life while fighting elements inimical to peace,” he said and added that there can’t be double-standards in valuing the responsibilities of this key institution in one breath and demeaning the same institution in another breath.

“Whether it is J&K Police or for that matter any other investigating agency, they will catch up with the criminal and bring him to justice as such individuals are a cancer for the whole society,” Akhtar said and added that if innocent Ashifa fell victim to a felon today, tomorrow it can be anybody’s daughter or sister, as any kind of political patronage will only embolden such criminals to have their way.
