Jammu, December 12: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti along with her other cabinet colleagues has distributed first installment of relief to the PoJK Displaced Persons (DP) of 1947, 1961 and 1971.

In an impressive function at Jammu, Mehbooba Mufti along with Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, Member Parliament Jugal Kishore, Minister for Relief and revenue Basharat Bukhari and Minster for PHE and Irrigation Sham Chowdhary has handed over cheques worth Rs. 5.5 Lakh to 25 families of the PoJK DPs.

It was a long wait for the displaced families to get their due share, however the government has given them only first installment of the relief but the banificrieis welcomed the step taken by the central government and initiated by state government.

“We migrated from Chambh area during 1971 war, I had a big house at Chambh where the Pakistani army has established their officer’s Mess now,” said Puran Chand a beneficiary.

“We are thankfull to the Modi government and State government for initiating the long pending process,” he added.

The cheques were given to the beneficiaries from 2000 crores given for the Displaced person out of 80,000 crore package announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kashmir on November 7 last year.
