A group of vilent protestors in Magam area of Budgam district overpowered a policeman and snatched his service rifle on Friday afternoon, according to police .
The police said that the INSAS rifle of the constable Reyaz Ahmad, was snatched by protesters in Makhama area.
The injured cop is being treated for injuries at Sub-district hospital Magam.
It all happened after groups took out a procession after Friday prayers and some among them pelted police with stones . Reyaz was injured in stone pelting. The crowd overpowered him and snatched his rifle.
The police claimed a search has been launched.
