J K NEWS TODAY
Jammu, August 2:
A self- woven deception has been cleared , and now the students in J&K know who they are ? The duplicity in their education curriculum and the discourse of being different from the rest of the country in classrooms has been replaced by a real sense of the unity and integrity of one country .
What has become clear to them by whatever they have heard ad learnt after August 5, 2019, is that there is no parallel educational system nor history of J&K in their curriculum . They are one with the rest of the country by way of the historic changes that were effected on August 5 last year when the special status of J&K was scrapped and J&K was brought at par with the other places in the Indian nation.
This part would be better understood if there is a little bit of recall of the history in which education in Kashmir suffered time and again – the street protests, clashes and casualties kept the schools shut , and they were dragged into conflict in 2010 and 2016, when Kashmir was rattled by the protests and killings . The schools were also burnt including the prestigious institution. The bigger onslaught was on the government schools .
With schools shut and the streets riddled with stones and blood , the children saw the gory images. They are unable to shed these images , and every time on a big or small scale it happened, they were told that this is happening because there was a “ Kashmir dispute”. These protests would often graduate to the demand of “ Azadi” and there was humiliation of all the symbols which represented India .
Now, there doubts have been cleared, because they often used to ask : if they were living in a “ disputed territory – this deception was also consolidated by teachers in many places across the Valley for many teachers recruited in the Valley had Jamiat-i-Islami background which had created their own versions of history and interrupted and misinterpreted them . This was the kind of distortion , which now stands exposed .
Students in Kashmir know now that what was wrong with the Article 370 and how it served as a barrier between Jammu and Kashmir and India. A year later, these questions can be answered easily. If two constitutions, two flags and almost two parallel legislative bodies – parliament and the J&K state legislature – were there, the doubts were bound to be there . That had left an impression on the mind of the students and the people at large that there is something amiss that’s why they were not as much part of the country as others in the country .
The Article 370 was becoming a sort of perceived shield against the central laws as also the entry of Indians from rest of the country on permanent basis, even if it was for the investment and boosting employment . This was a sort of subversion of the economic activities and forward-looking approach . In short, it was a cocooned mindset that was flourishing.
Now with students gradually reaiising that the things have come out so clearly , leaving no scope for the mischief in the streets , environment and schools. This will give a new shape to new future in Kashmir , because all the mischief of the past has been buried once and for all.
