Jammu, Febraury 7: Hundreds of people today blocked Janipur road and protested against police alleging custodial death of a rape accused inside Janipur police station.
Following blockage of the road for over one hour, thick traffic jam was witnessed at Janipur, New Plot, Roop Nagar, Sarwal areas.
According to sources, one Subash chander alias Kaka son of Amarnath and resident of Janipur Jammu who was arrested by Janipur police on Feb 02, 2018 in connection with a complaint (rape charges). The family and relatives of the deceased alleged that police tortured Kaka and he was died in police station due to police’s third degree. Sources added that the rape accused died under suspicious circumstances.
Later, Additional DC Jammu, Arun Manhas reached the spot and talked to the agitating people. He also ordered a Magisterial Probe into the matter and then only the protestors dispersed.
