Taking security measures, Civil administration today imposed restrictions on the use of Para Gliders, Parachutes, Air Balloons in the mountainous Udhampur district, which is also headquarter of Northern Command of army.

The restrictions were imposed by District Magistrate Udhampur, Niraj Kumar  under section 144 of Cr. PC following inputs from Air Force Headquarters.

As per an order, the restrictions have been imposed on private air borne activities like Para jumping, Para Gliding, Hoisting of air-balloons etc. within a radius of 1 km from any defense or security installation in the district. In case any such activity is to be conducted, prior permission of the District Magistrate shall be required.

In addition to this, DM has directed all private agencies operating such businesses to disclose their details along with details of equipments to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur within sixty days of the issuance of order.

As ordered by the DM, anyone willing to start such business or activity and any private/Government agency subletting any such equipment/item shall seek prior permission of the DM.

All SDMs, Tehsildars and SHOs in the district have been ordered to ensure compliance of the order and in case of violation, penal action under section 188 of RPC will be taken against the violators.

The order shall remain in force for a period of two months unless rescinded earlier.
