S P Vaid is all set to take over as new Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir succeeding K Rajendra who retires end of this month after completing three-months of extension in his service since September 30.
This decision is likely to be taken in a state cabinet meeting scheduled to be held here on Wednesday afternoon.
S P Vaid of 1986 bath IPS officer has held various positions across the state and handled crucial assignments throughout his career . Even when everything was in place for his announcement to be the next DGP in September this year, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti reposed faith in him and assigned him the most trying assignment of Special Director General of Law and Order.
There is a unanimity among the PDP and BJP ministers on the name of Vaid as the next police chief of the most sensitive state of Jammu and Kashmir in the country.
