Senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma today joined Bhartiya Janta Party to safeguard the interests of Jammu, and minorities in the state.
Sharma was quite unhappy with Congress , the party that he nurtured as a political worker and subsequent elevated positions as MLA and minister , after it started playing ball with the pro-separatist parties like National Conference and PDP.”
Sham Lal who was supposed to join the party on Thursday in presence pf Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter visited and held a rally in Dummi in Akhnoor area , deferred his plans until Saturday for he was keen on acceptance o of his roadmap of restoring the dignity of the people of the Jammu and the region as a whole.
It is a body blow to Congress that was surviving in Jammu with the presence of leaders like Sham Lal Sharma who gave their “blood and sweat to the party.”
BJP, in comparison , would be a big gainer as it would brighten the party’s prospects in the Lok Sabha elections and subsequent Assembly elections.
