School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu in collaboration with INTACH Jammu chapter today organized a presentation competition on the theme “Ethnic food of Jammu” under the aegis of World Heritage Week celebrations.

The purpose of organizing such activities is to bring awareness and encourage the people about the preservation and safety of our cultural heritage. And holding such competition is one such endeavour in this direction.

Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director, SHTM in his welcome address emphasized on the importance of cultural heritage in creating the unique character of a destination. He also discussed that how preserving our heritage can benefit the community on the whole  and can become an earning asset of the state. He stressed upon the fact that youngsters should try to learn more about our heritage and culture and imbibe better values in them.

S.M Sahni, Convenor, INTACH, Jammu chapter in his introductory remarks congratulated the School for unprecedented support in organizing such events. He further informed that INTACH regularly conduct such events to foster cultural heritage preservation among youngsters.

The adjucators for the presentation competition were;  Jyoti Bhatti, Principal FCI Jammu, Kuldeep Wahi, Vice President, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Jammu and  Arvind Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Jammu. Shazia, Ayushi, Komal and Sonika from GCW, Gandhi nagar secured the third position, Ananya Pant, Anjali Jain, Mahawish Jain and Nehal Pandotra from Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarakh Mandi secured second position while Andleeb Jahangir, Maval Nagpal, Mayank Anand and Urvashi Jain from School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu secured first position.

The event calumniated with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Sudhir Singh from Govt. Degree College Udhampur. Dr. Suvidha Khanna was the event incharge while the proceedings were conducted by Ms. Radhika Mahajan.
