Jammu, May 28: SKUAST- Jammu organized seed distribution programme under the guidance of Director Research, Dr. J.P Sharma.
Seed of new Basmati varieties like Basmati-564 and Jammu Basmati 129 was distributed among the farmers from different villages of R.S.Pura and Bishnah. Dr. Sharma in his welcome address laid emphasis on these new varieties which have more yield potential, early maturing and are less prone to lodging. The programme was organized under Front Line Demonstrations component of AICRP (Rice), Division of Plant Breeding and Genetics.
Dr. Anil Gupta, Prof. and Incharge AICRIP and Scientists Dr. Anuradha Saha (Sr. Scientist and Nodal Officer of FLD programme), Dr. Rajan Salalia and Dr. Bhupesh Kumar of rice group interacted with farmers. Prof. S.K.Mondal, Dr. M.K.Pandey, Dr. S.K.Rai and Dr. Vijay Bharti were also present in the programme.
