Jammu, March 1:

Legislative Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta  has issued a “breach of privilege’’ notice to senior National Conference leader and former Speaker  Mohammad Akbar Lone who had raised “ Pakistan Zindabad” slogans in the  House  when terrorists had attacked Sunjwan military station in Jammu in which six soldiers and  a civilians were killed.

However, the NC MLA , did not appear to be in a mood to  relent from his  objectionable slogans as he chaired a Public Accounts  Committee meeting on Wednesday.

The “breach of privilege’’ notice to Lone has been issued on behalf of the Speaker by Legislative Assembly’s Additional Secretary, Manzoor Ahmad Baba vide letter No. LA: 204/PS/Legn/2018 dated February 26.
Through the notice, the Speaker has sought comments/facts from Mohammad Akbar Lone for objectionable expression—Pakistan Zindabad made by him in the Assembly on February 10.
Mohammad Akbar Lone, who has served as Speaker, Minister and Deputy Speaker, has been given seven days to give his comments for perusal.
Lone, had on February 10, shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ inside the Legislative Assembly when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs were raising slogans like ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ and ‘Pakistan Hai Hai’ in view of fidayeen attack on Sunjuwan Military Station on that day in which six Army soldiers, a civilian and three fidayeen were killed.
Lone had admitted outside the Assembly that he had shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan but maintained that it was in reaction to the Speaker’s remarks on Rohingyas and Bangladeshis linking them with the terror attack.

Ironically,  Akbar Lone chaired the meeting of the Public Accounts  Committee on Wednesday
