Officers to make themselves available on radio broadcasts to give status details about ongoing developmental projects, real-time information about status of restoration of affected services

In order to communicate information that concerns the public to citizens and residents of the district in real-time the Srinagar administration is availing of the medium of FM radio broadcasting in the district.
This was informed in a meeting convened here Saturday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The meeting was informed that officers from concerned departments will make themselves available on radio stations giving status details about ongoing developmental schemes and projects in the district.
The medium will also be used to give real-time information about status of restoration of essential services affected or impacted due to weather and other situations as and when the latter occur.
The DC while speaking on the occasion highlighted the important role of radio as far as real-time dissemination of information is concerned.
He called on local heads of FM radio stations broadcasting in Srinagar who were present in the meeting to give airtime to the administration for the purpose outlined above and assist it in keeping the general public informed as is their right.
He said all concerned line departments and officers have been instructed to make themselves available for radio broadcasts aimed at providing relevant and real-time information about matters that concern the public.
Dr Shahid asked the broadcasters to approach the administration and project requirements that enable smoother functioning and operations of their respective stations assuring them of district administration’s keenness to facilitate existence of robust electronic media in Srinagar.
Senior officers from Information Department, Power Development, Mechanical Engineering, Public Health Engineering, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Health Services, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Urban Forestry and Police were present in the meeting.
FM radio stations whose Srinagar heads or representatives attended the meeting included Big 92.7 FM, Red 93.5 FM, Radio Tadka 95.0 FM and Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM.
