Srinagar, February 8: Hilal Ahmad Rather, Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar has been suspended with immediate effect and had been asked to report DG prisons with immediate effect till further orders.
Rather has been suspended following the escape of LeT militant Naved Khan from Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital Srinagar on Tuesday, in which two escorting policemen were short dead.
Police has today accepted that it was a security lapse, and the superintendent of the Central jail has been suspended.
