Srinagar, March 10

Jammu and Kashmir  police have issued an advisory for general public to stop at check points when signaled , this advisory is particularly for drivers  of vehicles moving during night hours.

This advisory makes it clear that is mandatory to stop at the “nakas” or check points . This advisory seems to have been issued against the backdrop of killing of  two militants and four civilians  in Shopian on march 4 in which the civilians travelling with the cars occupied by militants also  died in “ crossfire.”

“In order to ensure the overall security of the area, police and security forces have established checking points / naka points/ mobile vehicle checking points in various areas on main roads and peripheral roads in the district. We understand it’s a major inconvenience but its –inevitable- to ensure the safety and security of public,’’ reads the message posted on various social networking sites by Baramulla Police..

The police have asked people to stop their vehicles when signaled by the forces personnel or officials to stop. “Please don’t jump these checking points and feel free to contact officers,’’ reads the message.
