New Delhi , December 21

Possibilities are growing that Eastern Command chief  Lt. Gen Praveen Bakshi ,   who has been superseded   with the appointment of  Gen Bipin Rawat as  new army chief ,  will put in his papers if his honour is not restored as  Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS).

The post of CDS is yet to be created.

Gen. Bakshi met  Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and is understood to have voiced his reservations in working under  his junior  Gen. Bipin Rawat who has been elevated to the post of the Chief of army staff. He has also expressed his desire to resign if he is not restored with a four-star general post. Similar  views have been aired by  him to  the outgoing army chief Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag.

The Modi government appointed Gen. Rawat as the next army chief superseding  Gen Bakshi, the senior  most and the next in the line for promotion to army chief and  Sothern Command chief Lt. Gen P M Hazir

The sources indicated that the government is unclear about the fate of Gen. Bakshi and Gen Hazir, and  since Gen. Bakshi is reported to have voiced reservation regarding serving under Gen. Rawat . In this situation Gen. Bakshi may put in his papers in the next  few days.
