Mahesh Bhatt has been asked to reach Bandra Police Station by 12 noon to record his statement in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

Mumbai, July 27:

The Mumbai Police have asked filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt to report to the Bandra Police Station by 12 noon today (July 27) to record his statement in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The actor died by suicide on June 14 and investigation to determine the cause of suicide is underway. Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions’ CEO, Apoorva Mehta, will also be called for questioning regarding the case later. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has sparked debates around favouritism, nepotism and bullying in Bollywood.

Several Bollywood personalities have been questioned in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Kangana Ranaut was recently summoned by the Mumbai Police to record her statement in the case. The actress, who is at her hometown in Manali, responded to the second summon on Friday. In a statement she said that it will not be possible for her to travel to Mumbai during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In her statement, Kangana Ranaut further asked if it is possible for an officer to be sent at her Manali residence to record her statement. The statement, sent through her lawyer, also mentioned that if she could respond to the queries after they are sent to her. Another option given by the actress was that she could connect via some electronic medium and record her statement.

The statement concluded reading ‘The entire nation is shaken by the mysterious death of Sushant Singh Rajput and we hope a thorough and transparent investigation will be done,in order for him to get justice’.

Sources revealed that a police team from Bandra Police Station had earlier visited Ranaut’s residence near Khar Gymkhana with the summon copy on July 3. A staffer working for the actress, who identified herself as Amrita Dutt, met the police team and informed that the actress was out of town. The police team asked her to accept the summons and inform the actress to join investigations on the said date, but she refused. She was also asked to provide Ranaut’s address and contact details. However, Dutt refused to give that information as well. Dutt was then asked to come to the police station on July 4 but she didn’t comply to that.

The police team finally managed to reach Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, who is also her manager. Over phone, they requested for Ranaut to join the investigation in Mumbai.

On Wednesday a Twitter handle @Teamkanganaranaut tweeted that the actress hasn’t received any formal letter from the police to appear before them to record her statement. The tweet read, “There is no formal summon sent to Kangana, Rangoli keeps getting casual calls from the cops for past 2 weeks, Kangana wants to record statement but we don’t get any response from @mumbaipolice. Here’s a screen shot of message Rangoli ji sent to @mumbaipolice (sic).”
