Members of Team Jammu along with volunteers of Youth Association, Katra today paid rich tributes to freedom fighters and martyrs including Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day, today.

In this connection, numerous youth today evening organized a candle light march here Katra. Hundreds of youth assembled at Raghunath Temple, Katra. After lighting candles, they marched from various Bazaars of the town raising slogans Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru Amar Rahe. On the occasion, three youth including Sushobit Bali, Akaash Sharma and Vikas Tripathi were dressed up as Bhagat Singh who was appreciated by the people including the Vaishno Devi pilgrims. The rally after passing through various bazaars culminated at main Chowk Bus Stand, Katra.

Leading the candle march, young volunteers and members of Team Jammu and Youth Association, Katra, including Vijay Proch, Rasheed Ahmed, Ritesh Abrol and Anurag raised patriotic slogans like Inqlaab Zindabad, Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Vande Matram and stated that some political parties for their vested interests, were making mockery of the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs by giving irresponsible statements, like abrogation of AFSPA, Indo-Pak talks and other anti-national acts, which are intolerable to the nationalist forces of Jammu Province.
Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal who was the chief guest on the occasion, addressed the youth and recalled the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs during the freedom struggle. He said that young generations should get inspiration from the sacrifices of these three martyrs and similar others, who left luxuries of life and did not hesitate to face the bullets. “India will never forget the supreme sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who were just in their young ages when raised the voice of revolt against the British rule and faced many atrocities but did not deviate from their pledge of serving the motherland”, highlighted Zorawar Singh Jamwal.

While expressing serious concern over increasing drug menace, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that the martyrs would have never dreamt that after 70 years of Independence, the country would again become a slave of Drug Mafia. “It is a high-time to awake from deep slumber because drugs and narcotics are slightly consuming lives of the youth. Keep aside your political affiliations and come forward to take this war to the logical conclusion”, he stressed.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Katra, Naresh Singh, who was Guest of Honour in his address urged upon the youth to take inspiration from the supreme sacrifice of the freedom fighters and asked them to follow their footsteps to take the country on the path of progress. He said that the young generation needs to learn how our leaders sacrificed their lives for freedom of the country.
