If not extended, today is the last day to spend the demonetised currency — Rs.500 and Rs. 1000 bills, at public utilities like Petrol Pumps, Government Hospitals, Railway and Air tickets, etc.
After invalidating these currency bills on 08th November it was announced that these could be spent at Public utilities for next 72 hours.
But after short supply and ever increasing length of queues outsides banks for currency exchange, it was decided that Rs.500 and Rs.1000 bills would be accepted at Public Utilities.
Therefore, today is the last day when the Public Utilities would be accepting the demonetised notes if government does not announce the extension.
