Security Forces today averted a major tragedy after recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from Ponda in Bhart area of Doda district.
Official sources informed that at 11 am a 12-15 years old IED was found by the labourers, who were undertaking digging near road bend of Ponda in Bhart area to lay underground communication network cable. The labourers informed Police and Army about suspicious looking object which was buried 2 to 3 feet below the ground.
The army and Police teams of Doda reached the spot and cordoned it off. The IED experts from Army and Police checked the area and thereafter made it safe. Prompt action of Army and Police destroyed the old IED in situation soon after report. Area is safe now after neutralization of the vintage IED.
