With successful trial run from Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on Monday, much awaited Vande Bharat Express to commence soon.

According to the sources, the train is all set to run between Delhi –Katra from the Railways side and only the other formalities are awaited.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate it from Katra in the month of August.

The train is capable of attaining a speed of 130 kmh, will cut down the travelling time between the two stations by over four hours. He said currently a superfast train takes about 12 hours to reach the destination. The official pointed out that the route has been identified by the Railway Board in order to capitalize on the high traffic volume, which sees a lot of footfall due to Vaishno Devi temple shrine. The first Vande Bharat Express or Train 18 was launched on the Delhi-Varanasi route.

Here is all you need to know about the new Vande Bharat Express which will hit the tracks soon:

1) The high-speed new Vande Bharat Express on Delhi-Katra route will cover the distance within 8 hours.

2) The new set of Train 18 is likely to commence operations between Delhi and Katra from next month onwards.

3) Initially the train will run for three days a week — Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

4)The new Vande Bharat Express will leave from Delhi at 6 am and reach Katra at 2 pm.

5) On its return journey, new Vande Bharat Express will depart from Katra at 3 pm and reach Delhi at 11 pm.

6) The train will run at a maximum speed of 130 kmph on the Delhi-Katra route.

7) On its journey from Delhi to Katra, the new Vande Bharat train will stop at Ambala, Ludhiana, and Jammu Tawi.

8) Unlike its earlier version, which was criticised for lack of adequate space for pantry, the upgraded train has more space to store meals for passengers.

9) It has adjustable seats and improved washbasins, a sturdy aluminium-clad nose cover to avoid damage due to cattle run-over and special anti-spall film on windows to guard against stone pelting.

10) The train has undergone trials on the Delhi-Katra route, which was chosen among others such as Delhi-Amritsar and Delhi-Chandigarh that were also in the contention for the premium service.
