Srinagar, March  23

Worried over the  deteriorating  security situation   in Kashmir , the  Centre is dispatching  Union Home Secretary  Rajiv  Gauba to undertake a review of the situation in the Valley to  ensure that steps are taken to prevent further worsening of the conditions on ground.

The Centre is  seeking to strengthen the security apparatus in the Valley so that the developmental plans do not face any hurdles.

The Home Ministry is worried about the rise in the  anti-India militancy and activities in Kashmir and the role being played by  many elements in the state government who are propelling the  anti-national activities .” This is an alarming situation<” a senior Central government official told  J K News Today on Friday.

Militancy can be tackled but the growing inner support from the state government employees and functionaries, the sources said is  becoming a major area of concern.

The alarm has been sounded  the way  encounters are taking place in which the security forces are suffering casualties- three soldiers and two policemen- were killed in the  Halmatpora in  Kupwara forests. Five foreign militants were killed in this encounter.  This indicates that Pakistan was continuing with its  infiltration plans. There are more than 300 militants  waiting at the launch pads across the  Line of Control.

It is going to be the first of the series of visits by the Central government officials to the Valley.

Equally worrying is the rise of the Islamic  State in the Valley where many militants  are now committing to the Islamic state ideology of brutalities and zero-tolerance for moderates.
