Srinagar,July 13:

Former  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti   Friday warned  New Delhi of  disastrous consequences if it continued with its design to  break her People’s  Democratic Party  and equated such a scenario with that of the  “ dacoity “ of votes in the 1987 elections that is  etched in the history as  the trigger for militancy.

Talking to media  for the first  time after she lost power following the withdrawal of the support by BJP to her government on June 19th ,  a bitter and angry Mehbooba Mufti minced no words in denouncing Delhi  in  what she described its designs to cause defections in her party ( to form a new government.

She told media after paying floral tributes to  “ martyrs”  of 1931  at Naqashbandi Sahab in Srinagar,  that  “ if Delhi does ( break her party) , the consequences would be as bad as  when it  crushed Muslim United Front ( MUF) in 1987  that gave birth to the militant leaders  Salaha-ud-Din , Yasin Malik  and others.

She is perturbed by the rebellion within her party – that has amplified after she lost the power last month . Her fear is that some of the vulnerable elements within her party may be lured by Delhi to form  an alternate government . This thought ha been troubling her and she is threatening Delhi to  demonstrate that  Delhi is behind all the ills plaguing  Kashmir .

Mehbooba, however, claimed that her party was united.
