Is the pace of projects and schemes started by former Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed have been slow down in the era of his daughter and CM Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu and Kashmir!

There are few examples behind this point and one of the main is delaying of beautification of Uri town in North Kashmir, which was initiated by Mufti Sayeed as CM in 2015.

Today opposition National Conference’s senior member and MLA Uri, Mohammad Shafi Uri asked in a written question in the assembly about commitment of Mufti for beautification of this bordering town and asked about steps taken to fulfil the same, while replying Minister incharge Housing and Urban Development, Deputy Cm Dr Nirmal Singh has replied and agreed that yes, it is a fact that during the tour of the then CM to Uri town on May 16, 2015 it was desired to upgrade Uri as Model town.

“However, the work has been taken up for execution by PWD (R&B) Department under state capex budget and an amount of Rs 67.68 lacs stand utilized as on date, which also includes Rs 14.03 lacs released during 2017-18 under cities and towns programme. Few physical achievements for beautification of the town are under process,” the Deputy CM added.

Earlier, the Mehbooba Government also not going to enhance the funds for treatment of poor cancer patients under Corpus Fund Scheme launched by none other than former CM Late Mufti Sayeed.

Replying to the question of NC MLA, Ali Mohammad Sagar’s few days ago in the lower house, question that whether State Government intends to enhance the amount under Corpus Fund Scheme, the Minister incharge Health and Medical Education cleared that there are having no plans in this direction. “Till date no such proposal is under consideration of the department,” said the Health Minister.

The Corpus Fund Scheme for cancer patients was launched by the former Mufti Sayeed and an amount of Rs One Crore as Corpus Fund also released in favour of Principal Govt Medical College, Jammu for treatment of poor cancer patients.
