Protests witnessed in Roop Nagar area of the city following alleged sacreligious act in the area, this evening.

Bajrang Dal activists blocked the Janipur-Bantalab Road at Roop Nagar and demonstration against the alleged sacreligious act in the area, which is under investigation.

The Bajrang Dal leader, Rakesh Sharma followed by number of local residents sat on the road and organized a massive protest against the authorities and questioned happening of such incidents one after another in last around one year.

Police sources said that in the late afternoon, some locals informed the SHO Janipur that headportion of a calf found outside a house in Sector 2, Roop Nagar. A police team immediately rushed the spot, but the local residents with the body part of the calf reached the main road and started protesting by blocking the busiest road.

Meanwhile, concerned police officers also reached the spot and called a veterinary doctor and after examining the headportion of the calf. A sample was sent to the concerned laboratory for know the reasons behind the death of the calf.

But the protestors continued to raise questions and slogans on the issue and demanded legal action.

Then Additional Deputy Commissioner, Arun Manhas also reached the spot and assured the protestors for action in the matter if anyone found guilty and order investigation. Police lodged an FIR under section 295 RPC against unknown accused.
