JAMMU, FEBRUARY 9:

Representatives from UNICEF India including Country Head, Dr Yasmin Ali Haque, called on Minister for Social Welfare, Sajad Lone and reviewed the ongoing Child Protection programs in the state.

Representatives from state Government and UNICEF India office were present on the occasion.

UNICEF appreciated the Minister for notable progress accomplished in Child Protection sector in recent months in Jammu and Kashmir.

“An integrated Child Protection Program (ICPS), a National flagship scheme, was missing in the state where it was needed the most and we have rolled it after removing several administrative challenges,” Sajad Lone apprised the UNICEF delegation. He added that the present government under the stewardship leadership of Mehbooba Mufti is proactively pursuing the agenda for welfare of children in the state.

Dr Yasmin assured the Minister that UNICEF is committed towards the cause of children across the globe and sought complete cooperation from the state administration in this regard.

The delegation was comprised of Chief of Child Protection , Javier Augliar, Chief OF Education, Euphartes Efosi, and several senior officers from Social Welfare Department including , Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sajad Ahmed Khan, Commissioner Disabilities, Iqbal Lone, Mission Director, ICDS , G.A Sofi and Mission Director ICPS , Hilal Bhat.
