The Bajwa Doctrine: from chauvinism to realism

JK News Today After 70 years of extremechauvinism, we are finally into thedoctrine of realism which focuses onthe peaceful coexistence with theneighbouring countries. The Bajwa Doctrine, initiated by therationalistic and logical Gen QamarBajwa and his equally able team ofthe top military command, is allabout realising the changes takingplace around the country andreshaping policies according to theneeds of the modern times. The doctrine is very clear about thedemocratic future of the country.Believing in the importance of theconstitution, the doctrine wants toensure the proper respect of all theinstitutions of the state. The years ofcollective experience of the militaryhave proved that the supremacy oflaw is a major deterrent againstterrorism. It is a considered view of thecommand that the capacity ofcivilian institutions like Police, CivilServices and civil intelligenceagencies needs to be enhanced forstrengthening the country. International Vision: It was very courageous on the part ofGen Bajwa to tell the Afghanauthorities in unequivocal termsthat Pakistan has no expansionistdesigns about Afghanistan. Thisdoctrine openly abandoned the idea(if it ever existed) of strategic depthand Afghanistan as the fifthprovince of Pakistan. The BajwaDoctrine seeks total peace onwestern borders and wants to makeIran and Afghanistan as its erstwhileallies. Gen Bajwa has tried torekindle the deep friendship withSaudi Arabia, Qatar and the USA whowere unhappy with the Nawazgovernment for different reasons.Some successful moves of strategiccooperation have again befriendedthese estranged countries who attimes have conflicting interests witheach other. The Bajwa Doctrine is not about therole of a hateful neighbour trying todestabilise others but establishingPakistan as a proud peace-lovingcountry which wants peacefulcoexistence with the world. But ifprovoked, threatened or pressurisedit will show its full muscle power tothe enemy to prove its strongcommitment to the motherland.
