MENDHAR , September 24: Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, spokesperson of Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party, has strongly condemned the recent decision of the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to reduce the upper age limit for the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) examination from 35 years to 32 years.

Khan said this decision is a “grave injustice” with the already suffering youth of J&K who lost crucial years to exam scams, paper leaks, unemployment, and unrest. He added that the roots of this betrayal go back to the Omar Abdullah–led government, which first curtailed opportunities for aspirants and failed to create a fair and transparent recruitment system.

“In Gujarat, Punjab, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu, the age limit for civil services aspirants is much higher, giving youth a fair chance to prepare and compete. But in J&K, our youngsters are being deliberately deprived of the same opportunities. Why should J&K’s youth be treated as second-class citizens?” Khan questioned.

He further said, “Our youth have already been victims of scams, delays, and broken promises. Instead of compensating them, the administration is closing the doors of opportunity. This isn’t policy—it is cruelty.”

Khan demanded immediate reversal of the decision and restoration of the 35-year age limit, urging the LG Administration and JKPSC to stand with the aspirations of J&K’s youth.

“The government must remember, when you take away the last hope of the youth, you create frustration and despair. It is time to do justice by restoring the age relaxation and treating J&K’s aspirants at par with the rest of India,” he added.
