Jammu, April 22: Team Jammu organized a massive bike rally today to raise awareness against the growing menace of drug abuse. The rally was led by its Chairman, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, and saw enthusiastic participation from youth across various parts of Jammu, reflecting a strong collective resolve to combat drug addiction.
The rally commenced from Top Sherkhania and passed through several prominent bazaars and localities of Jammu city before culminating near the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at the Tawi Bridge. The atmosphere resonated with slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Nashe Ko Bhagao, Jeevan Bachao,” underlining the urgency of addressing the issue.
During Anti-Drug Bike rally including hundreds of J&K Police Riders in uniform join the rally, city residents and various bazar association of city came out and showed flowers on every rider and extended full support to Team Jammu in its war against drug mafia.
Addressing the massive bike rally, Zorawar Singh Jamwal demanded all drug peddlers who are endangering the future of youth must be treated as OGW (OGWs) for Pakistan sponsor narco terrorism. He urged the government to take strict and decisive action against drug smugglers. He expressed concern over reports that drug peddlers are allegedly operating networks from within jails using mobile phones, raising questions about the effectiveness of jail administration.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal also highlighted the growing threat of drug trafficking along the Indo-Pak border, stating that narcotics are increasingly being smuggled through drones. He emphasized that this cross-border supply chain must be effectively dismantled, as curbing such activities is essential to stopping the flow of drugs into the region. He asserted that unless this route is sealed, efforts to eliminate drug abuse at the local level will remain incomplete.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal emphasized that drug abuse is not just a law-and-order issue but a serious social evil that is destroying families, weakening the social fabric, and pushing youth toward crime and despair. He highlighted how the easy availability of narcotics is endangering the future of the younger generation he also applied to the parents and said “don’t doubt your wards but at least have a watch on their daily routine activity”.
Calling for a united societal response, he urged youth to stay away from drugs and focus on constructive activities. He also appealed to parents, teachers, and civil society to remain vigilant and actively engage with young people to prevent substance abuse.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal while appreciating and fully supporting 100 day long Maha Abhiyan against deadly drug menace launched by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor J&K UT, Shri Manoj Sinha, He stressed the importance of awareness campaigns, strengthening de-addiction centres, and ensuring proper counselling and rehabilitation support so affected individuals can reintegrate into society with dignity.
Team Jammu Chairman, Zorawar Singh Jamwal called on the Jammu & Kashmir UT administration to improve sports infrastructure, including the development of stadiums across districts, to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth.
He also demanded accountability within law enforcement agencies, urging strict action against any personnel found complicit in drug-related activities. He called for robust mechanisms to block narco-smuggling routes and dismantle drug networks that threaten the future of the region’s youth.
