Srinagar, October 9: Apni Party held a workers’ convention on Friday at the Central Shalteng Constituency. The program was organized by Zaffar Habib Dar, party’s District President Srinagar and Constituency Incharge Central Shalteng. The convention was chaired by party’s Provincial President Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir.
Addressing the gathering, Mohammad Ashraf Mir raised pressing concerns regarding the recent delimitation process spearheaded by the BJP, stating that it has turned the region’s electoral map upside down. He emphasized that the changes have left many residents particularly the youth, who remain confused about their constituency boundaries and demographic chnages. Mir further highlighted that given the massive private development and population expansion in Shalteng, the area ideally requires two separate constituencies to ensure fair representation.
Mir also slammed the ruling party stating, “Here the politicians appease the public merely by providing basic facilities, which is actually the fundamental right of the people,” Mir stated. “The NC came into power with a huge majority, but all their promises have failed. If they received such a massive mandate, why don’t they speak up for the rights of the people?”
He urged the public to learn from these unfulfilled promises, asking voters to set their emotions aside and develop practical political awareness. “If those who secured votes with such a huge majority are not fighting for you today, you cannot expect anything from them in the future. Leaders are meant to be public representatives, not just individuals securing their own personal comfort,” Mir added, reminding the audience to understand the true value of their vote.
Speaking on the occasion, Zaffar Habib Dar echoed these sentiments, strongly criticizing the government’s approach to public service. He pointed out that while providing infrastructure like proper roads is the fundamental duty of the government, ruling authorities often portray these basic necessities as favors to the public.
“Whoever is in power is supposed to work for the people; they are elected to do a job. Instead, they only harm and exploit the public,” Dar remarked. He specifically targeted the National Conference, accusing them of maintaining a self-serving routine for the past 70 years. “They care only about their seats of power and personal comfort, with absolutely no concern for the rights of the people. They secured a mandate based entirely on fake, unfulfilled promises, and the end result is zero.”
The party’s prominent leaders including; party’s State Youth President and Spokesperson Yawar Dilawar Mir, Women’s Wing President Dilshad Shaheen, Spokesperson Ishrat Bhat also addressed the workers’ gathering.
Meanwhile, party leaders welcomed new entrants into the party fold. The included; Karan Singh, Sajad Ahmad, Mehraj Din, Nazir Ahmad Shagoo, Gulzar Ahmad, Jan Mohd Beigh, Showkat Ahmad, Umar Ahmad, Imran Ahmad, Babar Sofi, Ubaid Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Ubaid Ahmad and others.
