New Delhi, December 29:
Serious armed conflict with India is not in China’s best interest globally, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria told on Tuesday, as he discussed months of tensions between the two countries following violence on the Ladakh border in June Had.
He pointed to “developing the uncertainties and instability of global geopolitics” and “insufficient contribution of major powers to global security”, adding that these had provided China with “an opportunity to demonstrate its power”.
Air Chief Marshal said it is important to understand the reasons behind China’s actions, which he said ranged from “training for war-like situations” to “synergy with new structure and technology”, or even “a Military-dominated audacity “.
“Any serious conflict is not good for China on the () global front. If the Chinese aspirations are global, then this (a border stand-off) is not in line with their grand plan. Therefore, what should be the possible motive for their action Can.? “The Air Chief Marshal asked.
“Was it military signaling or domination efforts with sufficient escalation control? Was it (for) the deployment and training of Western theater forces in war-like scenarios where the Galvan event was an over-reach? Of new structures and technology. Obliged to keep pace with? Or was it a planned escalation to start border talks? “He continued.
It could also be, he said, that Chinese are reluctant to back down for fear of “face damage”.
“In any case, everything that has actually happened is above all … whatever their initial objective may be. They’ve made heavy deployments (along the Line of Actual Control) … radar, surface-to-ground.” Air has a large presence and surface-to-surface missiles, ”said Air Chief Marshal Bhadoria.
“But we have taken all necessary action,” he emphasized.
India and China each have around 50,000 soldiers in a high state of war preparedness at various locations in the mountainous region, this month to increase the stocking of arms, ammunition and equipment to the armed forces in Delhi for a 15-day war. Permission was granted.
In September, India participated in tanks, heavy weapons, fuel, food and necessary winter supplies to support its army during the treacherous winter months.
The Indian Air Force is also on high alert with LAC at forward air bases.
The Air Marshal’s remarks came days after the two governments agreed to work towards an “early and complete” disbandment of troops with the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
Several rounds of talks have not yielded any tangible results to resolve the deadlock and a sharp rise in tension following clashes in May and violence in Galvan in June.
The final round of talks took place on 6 November.
