Jammu, February 06:

The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration  ( PAGD) will meet in Srinagar on February 13 to come out with its united response to the Delimitation Commission’s second draft report that has changed all the geographical and demographics of the Assembly and parliamentary constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.

Two of the most prominent constituents of the Alliance that had come into being to oppose abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A and bifurcation of the erstwhile state and seek reversal of the amendments, National Conference and PDP have already rejected the electoral changes made by the Commission. PDP has gone to the extent of saying the report is a design to disempower Kashmiri Muslims in pursuance of BJP’s agenda .

The PAGD, sources said, will discuss and deliberate on the Delimitation Commission’s report , its meaning and implications for the people and how to make its campaign to restore what it calls “ political prestige and unique identity associated with each of the constituency in J&K”. It is seeing a design to cut the political decision making power of the Valley by reducing its constituencies as compared to Jammu region , more worrying for the PAGD is the cut in its Lok Sabha constituency of Anantnag, which from being pure Kashmiri has been extended to Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu division . The natural boundaries drawn by mountains have been changed by the Commission, the PAGD constituents have argued.

The February 13 meeting will also discuss how to meet these challenges which have been thrown at them by the Commission.
