Jammu, February 18:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is chairing a high-level meeting on the overall security situation with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and officers drawn from army and security agencies amid the reports of terrorist planning escalation in the situation due to melting of mountainous passes along the Line of Control that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
Sources said that the meeting is also taking stock of the situation in the wake of the reports emanating from across the border that terrorists were regrouping and they were being guided by Pakistan’s establishment to cause disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan is disturbed by the stabilization of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir after almost three decades of turmoil caused by Pakistan sponsored terrorism with the abrogation of Article 370 . As the people have started returning to the normal life, Islamabad-Rawalpindi were planning new offensives against Jammu and Kashmir .
The meeting voiced satisfaction over the situation , the way it has evolved since August 2019, when the discriminatory provisions were removed from the constitution. But also called for heightened vigil to thwart plans of the enemy and the inimical forces working within the union territory.
