Srinagar, April 12:

Ani Party chief Altaf Bukhari broke age-old tradition of seeking political packages from the Prime Minister of the country , he spoke of mitigation of the humanitarian crisis faced by tens of thousands of daily wagers across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pinning hopes on PM Narendra Modi’s visit to J&K, his first since the abrogation of Article 370 that snapped the special status of the erstwhile state on August 5, 2019 , Altaf Bukhari raised the pitch for the regularization of the daily wagers of all the departments , for he felt that this human issue has remained unaddressed, and now the matters have come to such a pass that Prime Minister’s direct intervention is needed. Prime Minister, the Apni Party chief said, should make a special announcement regarding the daily wagers , whose number ss more than one lakh , so that they can live a dignified human life.

Modi is visiting Jammu’s Palli village where from he will address all the panchayats across the country on April 24 . This visit is significant for it is coming at the time when the elections are supposed to be held in J&K this year . His last visit to J&K was in February 2019 , days before the terror attack in Pulwama that left 40 CRPF men dead .

A lot many expectations have been pinned on PM’s visit, as there are speculations that he would be making major announcement with regard to Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in reference to the strengthening of democracy , and there also are hopes that he might hint at the restoration of the statehood.
Far away from these political issues , though Altaf Bukhari was the first leader of J&K to have demanded and strongly pressed for the restoration of the statehood to J&K and continues to plead for it during his meetings with the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amt Shah, he on Tuesday touched upon the humanitarian aspect of the lives of the daily wagers.

“ Tell me who is responsible for the death of lineman working on the electric lines. Who is going to bring his dead body from the pole ,” and he said “ I believe there is a human duty toward these men who ensure electric and water supply to our homes and establishments. “ “ Can we shut our eyes toward their plight, especially when they are not paid even the meagre amount fixed as their wages.”

Altaf Bukhari said that the administration has failed to redress their grievances , and is enjoying the misery of these hapless people . “ speak for all the daily wagers in all departments and also the special police officers and Prime Minister should take note of their miseries and announce their regularization to enable them and their families to live as dignified lives.”

The Apni Party chief said that , it is an opportunity for PM Modi to translate his iconic words , “ Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas , Sb Ka Vishwas and Sab Ka Prayas.
