Srinagar, June 21: Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari on Friday came down heavily on the Power Development Department for unfairly punishing the poor residents of J&K by raising electricity bills without applying reason and he demanded that the LG administration should stop this kind of harassment immediately .
Sharing the problems of the poor consumers whose monthly electricity bills have been more than doubled by the PDD, Altaf Bukhari said this is unfair and unjustified in all senses of the word. Altaf Bukhari is the first leader in Kashmir to speak about the plight of the poor people vis-à-vis inflated electricity bills .
Altaf Bukhari wrote on his X handle: “ The Power Development Department is
unfairly punishing poor residents of J&K by raising electricity bills monthly from Rs 500 to Rs 1050 in some areas and Rs 900 to 1600 or even Rs 2100 in other areas just to cover their inefficiencies in recovering transmission losses. “
He pointed out that people in in rural as well as urban areas are suffering by high electricity charges. ,” and asked the LG administration to take note that poor people are not targeted for administrative failures. This harassment to poor people of J&K must stop immediately!.”
