Srinagar, May 12: Apni Party General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir has strongly denounced the unjustified arrests of Apni Party workers in various areas across the valley. He termed these arrests as a blatant attempt to manipulate the parliamentary polls scheduled for tomorrow in the Srinagar constituency.
In his statement, Rafi Ahmad Mir said, that “The police has arrested a large number of Apni Party workers in various areas in Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, and Shopian. These arrests seemingly have been made at the behest of parties like NC and PDP, who are cronies of the powers in New Delhi.”
Rafi Ahmad Mir has cautioned that if the party workers are not released immediately, the Apni Party may choose to boycott the elections. He said, “The democratic process should be free and fair. The arrest of party workers mere hours before the polls suggests a blatant attempt to manipulate and rig the elections against the Apni Party. We will not tolerate this injustice, and go to boycott the polls.”
Apni Party General Secretary urged an immediate intervention by the LG. He said, “I request LG Manoj Sinha ji to intervene in the matter and ensure the immediate release of the arrested party workers, and to prevent any further unwarranted actions against Apni Party workers.”
