Says over 130 villages are in darkness due to a defunct transformer at LJHP
Srinagar, February 9: Apni Party Senior Leader and party in-charge for the Uri constituenc Mushtaq Choudhary on Monday expressed deep concern over the prevailing electricity crisis in the Uri and Boniyar tehsils of north Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Mushtaq Choudhary said that over 130 villages in Uri and Boniyar have been grappling with a severe power crisis ever since a 20 MVA transformer at the Lower Jhelum Hydel Power Project (LJHP) in Chehlan, Boniyar, turned defunct. Due to this situation the affected population is facing hardship.
The crisis has particularly affected patients who are dependent on oxygen concentrators.
Mushtaq Choudhary urged the administration to look into the matter and ensure that electricity is restored in the affected areas without any further delay.
