The Delimitation Commission on J&K has finalised its report on delimiting of constituencies by April- end , according to informed sources
The report will be submitted to the Government by April- end and it might happen before Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertakes his first visit to J&K on April 24.


The informed sources said that the Commission has delimited 90 constituencies- 47 for the Valley and 43 for Jammu region . Jammu region has got six out of seven additional seats , while the Valley is up by one.


The Commission’s report will pave way for the polls in J&K, where Assembly elections are pending since 2018. The last elected Assembly of the state of J&K was dissolved on November 21, 2018. Earlier , on June 19, 2018, BJP had withdrawn support to PDP led coalition government , resulting in imposition of Central rule . Since then – abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and subsequent split of the erstwhile state of J&K- has changed the landscape of J&K.


These sources said that the Commission ‘s report will also pave way for the revision of electoral rolls .
