Jammu, August 08:

Accusing Education Department of discriminating with Pahari Language, Apni Party, J&K Youth Wing, Vice President and Media Coordinator Raqeeq Ahmed Khan has urged Govt. to practically implement teaching of Pahari Speaking Language in educational institutions.

In his statement to the press, Khan said that the Pahari Speaking people have been disheartened with the poor response from the Education Dept. with regard to the teaching of the Language which is spoken by lakhs of people.

“The books in Pahari Language have been published but they were not provided to the educational institutions,” said the Vice President J&K Youth Wing and demanded implementation of Supreme Court and High Court directions in letter and spirit.

“It is a matter of grave concern that the Govt. schools have not been able to introduce the above said language in the curriculum as one of the subjects in Districts of J&K to teach the students,” he alleged.

He said that “The Pahari Speaking students do not belong to a religion. But it’s a language spoken by all the communities in Jammu’s twin districts Rajouri-Poonch, and many other districts of Jammu Province as well as Kashmir Province.”

He further said that “Approximately, a population of 30 lakh is been neglected despite the fact that the Constitution of India has acknowledged them but the School Education Department has still to take any concrete step towards the implementation of the directives issued from time to time by the courts.”

The language is facing two main issues i.e., Directorate of School Education has published books of Pahari Speaking Language, and the same are not being provided to the Govt. schools having students from the above said community (Pahari Speaking Students), he said. He said that “Unfortunately delaying practice is being adopted by engaging in blame games by the Directorate of Education, Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers and School Managements.”

He said that the CEOs and ZEOs are being blamed for not sending requirements/recommendations to the Directorate to provide books of Pahari Speaking Language.

On the other hand, CEOs/ZEOs claim they do not have any written directions from the higher ups to send them requirements for the books. Therefore, the published books remain dumped unnecessarily in the stores of the Education Department, and they are not supplied to the respective schools, he said.

Secondly, he said the Radio Kashmir, Jammu and Doordarshan Jammu has ignored a huge population by not telecasting news bulletins as well as programmes in Pahari Speaking Language.

The news bulletin can be beneficial for Pahari Speaking People to get to know about the policies and welfare programmes of the Govt. In a way, it would fulfill a gap created between the public and the Govt, he further said.
