Jammu, June 29: A five-day course on “Investigation of Cyber Crime” commenced at S.K. Police Academy Udhampur on June 25, 2024, and concluded today. Fourteen officers from J&K Police participated in the course. The course was designed as a capacity-building tool for J&K Police’s investigating officers to tackle the increasing menace of cybercrime in virtual space.
The course featured a wide range of discussions, deliberations, and demonstrations on various topics including types and techniques of computer forensics, hacking methodologies, operating systems, denial-of-service attacks, basic network protocols, cryptocurrency, and the vulnerability of financial transactions.
Eminent speakers from different institutions such as Govt. College of Engineering & Technology Jammu, cyber experts from J&K Cyber Police Station, and faculty from the Anti-Corruption Bureau delivered lectures to the participants.
A valediction function was organized at the Academy on the final day. Shri Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor Trgs) SKPA, was the chief guest. In his valedictory address, Shri Gupta emphasized the importance of staying updated with modern techniques for handling cybercrimes, stressing that as first responders, officers should know the appropriate actions to take when a cybercrime is reported.
The course was coordinated by Sh. Rohit Gupta, Inspector, and assisted by HC Sanjay Singh under the guidance of senior officers of the Academy.
