Nationwide lockdown to control the spread of Coronavirus in India has affected the livelihood of millions of people. Former MLA Surankote Choudhary Akram and young enthusiastic team of Helping Hands has stepped forward and put all out efforts to support the poor by providing essentials like food kits, medicines and also provided finacial help to the poor, stranded labourers, destitutes, widows, orphans and nomadic families of the Bakerwals and Gujjars of the remote areas of district Poonch.Since the day one of lockdown young enthusiastic team of Helping Hands is working under the Guidance of former MLA Surankote Choudhary Akram.They are working tirelessly from the day one of the lockdown and reached out to the downtroddens of the region.

Furthermore, team ‘Helping Hands’ under the banner #HaarGharEidHo distributed 630 Kits in two phases during lockdowns & the holy month of Ramzaan. During Ramzan team also served Iftaar at different Quarantine Centres in Surankote and created awareness among the masses about the social distancing norms and use of masks to fight COVID-19.They also distributed medicines in the far flung areas and border regions.Border areas and border communities are facing many problems and lockdown further complicated their issues. Team Helping Hands specially focused on border communities and reached out to the border areas of Mankote, Tehsil Mendar

Blood donation groups were also made so that in the time of emergencies blood can arranged and provided to the patients at short notice. This experiment worked well and they arranged blood for many patients at a very short notice. Volunteers worked hard to create awareness regarding social distancing, use of masks, importance of sanitisation etc.


Team members did a splendid job and worked tirelessly to reach out to everyone who was in need of help. Our team is still on ground to reach out to the people in need and emergencies. We have also provided ration to the families of Burma in Bathindi shares one of the member.

The team of young enthusiasts who supported for this noble cause included Mehmood Khawaja, Khushnood H Shah, Saima Choudhary, Naveed Khawaja, Hayat Choudhary, Khurshid Ahmed, Aqib Khawaja, Asad Pathan and Farhana Farooq.
