Jammu, July 25 Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday evening wrote a letter to the leaders of opposition in both the Houses of the Parliament , seeking their cooperation in discussing Manipur situation and to assure the people of the north-eastern state that the nation is with them.
In an almost identical letter to leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary in Lok Sabha, the Home Minister said that it is the time that all the parties join hands to send a clear message to the people of Manipur that the whole nation is with them. He said the Parliament represents the collective will of the nation , as this the largest temple of democracy in the country.
He said that for the past six years, under the BJP rule, one of the most important border states in the country, has witnessed unprecedented peace , but since May due to some decisions of the court and other developments, the state is witnessing violence . It is troubling .
Home Minister , in his letters, said that there have been some shameful incidents in Manipur and the people of the state expected Parliament to discuss the issue. “ Let’s us rise above our party politics and assure the people of Manipur demonstrate our unqualified solidarity with them.”
