Jammu, Jan. 19: As part of the ongoing “Swachh Republic Day” campaign being run by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), an anti-defacement drive was conducted today in the Parade area to promote cleanliness and civic responsibility ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
The campaign is being carried out under the guidance of Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD), Ms. Mandeep Kour.
During the drive, posters and unauthorised publicity material pasted on public walls were removed by school students, symbolising active community participation and youth involvement in cleanliness initiatives. The activity was carried out in the presence of Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, who appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and highlighted the importance of maintaining clean and defacement-free public spaces.
After the removal of posters, the walls were thoroughly cleaned and freshly painted, restoring the aesthetic appeal of the area and reinforcing the message of cleanliness and responsible public behaviour.
Joint Commissioner Revenue and Enforcement Ms. Subah Mehta, Deputy Commissioner North Sanjay Badyal, Dr.Priyanka Malhotra along with other senior officers and officials of the Jammu Municipal Corporation, were present on the occasion. They reiterated that strict action will continue against defacement of public property and appealed to citizens to cooperate with JMC in keeping the city clean and beautiful.
The Swachh Republic Day campaign continues across various parts of the city, focusing on sanitation, anti-encroachment, anti-defacement drives, and public awareness to ensure a clean and dignified environment for the Republic Day celebrations.
