Jammu, April 14:
Pakistan army has made it clear that it had no role in the regime change in the country nor there was any foreign conspiracy in the removal of Prime Minister Imran Khan in the no-confidence motion tabled by the opposition . This has re-established the fact that Khan’s claim of the American conspiracy was a complete distortion of the facts , and it now in the public domain that Pakistan was taken for a ride by Khan and his party PTI on the foreign conspiracy theory.
Director General of Inter Services Public Relations Major General Iftikhar Babbar made two points very clear that the NSC or National Security Committee , of which armed forces are an integral part , did not mention the word “ conspiracy” . The NSC meet, chaired by now ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan and attended by the top army brass , on March 27 had taken cognizance of the “ undiplomatic language used by the US official Donald Lu” and had suggested that a demarche should be made to the US.
Second important point made by the DGISPR was that there was no meeting or deal with the opposition for regime change in Pakistan . This should open eyes of Pakistanis and keen observers of Pakistan that how a populist political leader, inclined toward autocracy out of his arrogance can cause irreparable damage to the country and its relations with other countries.
There was a malicious campaign by the PTI and its supporters on social media , abusive language was used against army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa for what they alleged was the role of the establishment in not standing by Imran Khan . It was rightly asserted by the DGISPR that the institutions work as per their mandate and not by the politics of the day. He said that , better term to be used for the army or establishment is that it is “ apolitical”, for neutral was not the right description of this institution.
It also is fact that the army had made its differences with the erstwhile Imran Khan government made known. Gen. Bajwa, while speaking at Islamabad Security Dialogue in Islamabad on April 2nd had underlined the necessity of good relations with America , that the then premier had accused of conspiring to dislodge him. The army chief also reflected t on the “ excellent relations Pakistan had I with the United States .”
Now it is clear that the army has snubbed Imran Khan’s conspiracy theory and has shown its inclination to have good relations with the US and other countries.
