Jammu , November 11 :
Girls education in Pakistan occupied Gilgit-Baltistan is under attack. Terrorists have launched a campaign to burn schools to keep girls out of the institutes. This is the fiery message that they are sending to girls, their parents and also to school teachers that they are unsafe if they happen to commute to schools. This has all the imprints of Taliban style of crushing freedom and right to education of girls in the region , and the worse is that the Pakistan authorities have surrendered themselves to forces of dark era.
On Tuesday , a girls’ school in Darel Valley of Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan was set on fire by militants . They not only set afire the school but also destroyed everything that could have facilitated the school work. It was not for the first time that the Talibanized militants had set schools on fire . Earlier , on August 3, 2018 , militants had set on fire 12 schools in Diamer district
Saner elements in Pakistan have termed it as continuation of war on education by obscurantists . the latest act of arson in Darel Valley is not an isolated incident . There have been similar attacks on the educational institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan , as the authorities find themselves helpless before the terrorists, because the terrorists enjoy the patronage of Pakistan’s government and establishment that prefers terrorist actions over the basic needs of the people .The local residents have given up their hope on the authorities . They have raised slogans against the terrorists and have also the local authorities . They know that the government would not come to their help , so they have decided to repair the school on their own.
But that doesn’t end the problem. As the terrorists are on parole and the authorities lack the will power to take on terrorists . This has created a wedge between the people and the government.
