JAMMU, NOVEMBER 16:

Inspector General of Police, Traffic J&K, Alok Kumar, today convened a meeting here to review the traffic regulatory mechanism and the implementation of new Motor Vehicles Act.
SSP Traffic City Jammu, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu besides, and other Traffic Police Officers attended the meeting.
On the occasion, the IGP stressed upon the officers to gear the field functionaries and direct them to carry out regular checking of documents of passenger vehicles to bring the violators to book and also take strict action against the riders driving two-wheelers without wearing crash helmet and other traffic rule offenders.
The meeting was informed that contact numbers of traffic police officers should be prominently displayed at proper road points/passenger sheds so that passengers can register their complain in case of traffic rule violations.
The IGP also directed the officers to carry out regular checking of habitual overloading PSVs and bring the erring drivers to book by lodging FIR and recommend suspension of their licenses.
The officers were further directed to ensure field functionaries wear florescent jackets during evening and night hours so that their presence is visible from a distance on the roads.
Meanwhile, Traffic police has appealed the general public to co-operate with the department in effective implementation traffic rules and laws and contact the following phone numbers in registering complaints and bringing violators to book.
