Army has once again been put on high alert  along the international border and Line of Control  following reports that Pakistan army was planning a big terror operation on this side of border.

Western Command Commander Lt. Gen. Surinder Singh had the field inspection  of the frontline areas  in Samba, Jammu and Pathankot on Saturday and asked the troops to  maximize their alertness  as the troops  across the border were moving to the borders in large numbers, defence sources told JKNT.

Gen. Surinder Singh, according to these sources said  that  Pakistan army might trying something  new and more destructive than its previous attempts of  sending terrorists on “ fidayeen” or suicide missions, hence the heightened alertness is the only answer to the designs of “ enemy”.

In the past week , Pakistan army has moved its troops to the frontlines. A visit by the Pakistan army chef Gen. Raheel Sharif  along LoC is taken as a sign of the things to come in the near future.

Gen. Raheel Sharif who is retiring next month wants to leave some spectacular legacy behind him, Pakistani media has been rich with these reports. It is almost certain that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is keen to see the back of Gen. Sharif at the earliest.  Both of them view each other as adversaries on the political turf of Pakistan that has been shaking  because of the homegrown terrorism.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, Governor N N Vohra  reviewed the security  situation of the state in the aftermath of  Pampore  attack on Monday that lasted till Wednesday afternoon.

Vohra recalled that how after Pathankot terror attack in January this year, he had sought the security audit of  all the security and vital installations across the state. Northern Command Commander Lt. Gen. D S Hooda, who recently visited the security formations across the Valley, briefed him among others.
